Cincinnati is set to host its Black men’s Wellness Day on Aug. 31, from 7 a.m. to noon in Central Park. This significant event, provided by the African American Male Wellness Agency, is aimed at improving health outcomes for Black men in the greater Cincinnati area, will offer free health screenings. This community-focused initiative is generously sponsored by leading health care organizations including Johnson & Johnson, Gilead, Genentech, and Exact Sciences. Each sponsor is dedicated to advancing health equity and providing essential health services to underserved populations. 

Glenn Taylor, a prominent community leader, will serve as the honorary chair for the event. Taylor’s involvement underscores the commitment to enhancing health awareness and promoting preventive care within the Black community. The event will feature a comprehensive range of health screenings including blood pressure checks, cholesterol assessments, diabetes screenings, and prostate exams among others.     

In addition to the health screenings, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a 5k walk and run.

These opportunities provide educational resources and personalized health consultations designed to foster long-term wellness and prevention strategies. 

Black men’s Wellness Day is a pivotal opportunity to address health disparities and encourage proactive health management. By providing these services free of charge, the event aims to breakdown barriers to health care access and support Black men in taking charge of their health.
