There haven’t been many local people to play for the Bengals. Kevin Huber retired last season. He had played a double digit amount of season after starring at McNicholas High School and the University of Cincinnati as a punter. Sam Hubbard is the Bengals starting defensive end. Hubbard starred at Moeller before attending Ohio State. Erick All is the latest local player trying to make an impact in the NFL.

All was picked in the 4th round this past season for the Bengals. After starting his career at Michigan, the Hamilton native finished his career at Iowa. All had star power in high school. As a senior at Fairfield, he caught 30 passes for 465 yards. All was rated a 3 star prospect and the 18th prospect in all of Ohio. He was one of the best tight ends in Cincinnati, while starring at Fairfield High school. For a minute it looked as if the Bengals may have two Fairfield High alums playing.

Jackson Carmen was the Bengals 2nd round draft choice out of Clemson 3 years ago. The Bengals just cut Carmen after 3 underachieving seasons in Cincinnati.

At present the former Fairfield Indian is listed as 4th on the depth chart for the Bengals at tight end. He is behind starter Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, and Tanner Hudson. L:ast Tuesday was the official cutdown day for the NFL to gain final roster spots going into week 1 of the NFL season. It is anyone’s guess as to whether the Bengals will carry four tight ends or possibly sign All to the practice squad. For the preseason. All caught 2 passes for 15 yards. While his stats were not overwhelming, he was noted to be showing promise.

The Bengals will open the season with the New England Patriots Sept. 8 at home. Outside of injury, the former Iowa Hawkeye may have trouble seeing much playing time if he makes the team. Erick All has proven he’s a survivor. When he was 2 years old he was trapped in a playpen on the second floor at his family’s home in Richmond, Indiana. All was rescued by a firefighter who had to perform CPR on the star tight end. He will need that same survival instinct to not only make it in the NFL, but end up being productive.
